Administrators' Evaluations of this Training:

Fantastic training! Very informative. Training that every officer in law enforcement and corrections should attend.

"I would like to thank you and Shon for your presentation on March 17 & 18 at the Davis County Sheriff's Office. Of the 30+ attendees both Law Enforcement and civilian staff thoroughly enjoyed it. My medical staff asked to attend a future class since I couldn't send all of them at this time. On behalf of Sheriff Bud Cox I would like to extend my appreciation for a job well done.

Thank You

Captain Bob M. Yeaman, Davis County Sheriff's Office

"I just want to thank you and Shon Lunt for the outstanding training you provide to our Department and County re-service students. For the past several years you have taught 13 hours of our pre-service curriculum (Mentally Disordered Offenders - 2 hrs; Crisis Identification - 2 hrs; Counseling Techniques - 2 hrs; Understanding Human Behavior - 3 hrs; and Abnormal Behavior - 4 hrs) for each class going through the academy. You were given broad teaching objectives to cover and you put together comprehensive curricula and lesson plans that are models for others to use. Your classes are interesting, professionally delivered and well received by students and staff. Again, it is with deep appreciation that I acknowledge the valuable contribution you have made to the training of the State of Utah's Correctional Officers.

- Dennis Hutchinson, Director of Training, Utah Department of Corrections- Training Academy

Comments from Participants:

Dr. Egli and Officer Lunt were able to present the information in a concise and understandable manner, place the students in a unique position to empathize with certain symptoms of mental illness, and provide alternative ways of dealing with disturbed inmates.

Should be pre-requisite in all law enforcement academies, correctional and police.

I'm glad to see [the academy] is noticing that more time needs to be spent on this subject. We can use all he training we can get on this.

Enlightening. I have had several mental health classes-learned more in this one than in other classes.

Dr. Egli has super knowledge and Shon has grundles of experience. Good combo.

Officer Lunt's examples were very informative and helped put the material in perspective.

Best class I have had in years.

Thanks for the new info and all the interesting information. And thanks for leaning towards the correctional side of things.

Very good team teaching. Covered the material very well. Kept the class involved.

These guys really relay this info well and put it out there in a way we can use every day. Answered a lot of questions I had and makes me want to be useful with my new knowledge. I want to know more now, after what I have learned. Thanks a lot.

I would like to learn more and become an expert like Shon.

A possibly "dry" subject was make interesting and, actually, I was wanting to learn more when I didn't want to at first-Instructors work well with each other.

The information provided was excellent because it is very much job related.

All that I learned I recognized as very important. I appreciate learning about these subjects. I didn't believe that depression was real until these classes.

The 'war stories' really helped in the teaching of the class. Both instructors work well with each other. Made a possibly "dry" topic interesting.

The stories and personal experiences brought a lot of light to the subject matter and helped put the [information itself] into better perspective. It also helps me to better understand and prepare for what I'll face in my career. Thank you.

Some of the best instructors we have had!

This training is very much needed by us correctional officers. Very applicable. Great job, guys! I couldn't get enough of it.

The instructors did a great job and make me proud to be doing what I am.

Dr. Egli had a lot of good info and refrained from using doctor jargon. Shon Lunt made it interesting by including life experiences. They were great and were sensitive to peoples feelings.

The openness of Officer Lunt with his own feelings…. Makes this subject a reality [in] our own personal lives and [informs us] how we can handle the situation when we encounter it. Thanks.

I liked the two perspectives of doctor and officer. Very good class. I was impressed at the [instructors'] willingness to answer questions and the audience participation.
